Most importantly remember the twitter etiquette.
- Always provide value to your followers.
- Do not pitch your opportunity all the time.
- Respect others in the community.
Ok, now back to the topic how to get leads for your MLM business?
- Build a following – You need people to listen to your broadcasts.
- Start tweeting valuable content to your target audience. They will tune in to your “twitter radio station” only if you provide content that will interest them. Do this 80-90% of the time.
- Engage your audience by asking questions.
- Build relationships using direct messages and @ replies.
Lets look at them in detail
Building a twitter following – Start following people in you target niche and they will start to follow you. To find people in your niche you can use the twitter search, twellow, etc.
You can automate this by using sites like SocialOomph, Tweetspinner and many others. Also you can outsource this if you are short of time and have a budget. If you are starting out it is always best to follow people manually, this will help you to understand the system and be safe with twitter until you build a considerable following.
What to tweet?
As I mentioned earlier make sure to provide value. If you are wondering where to find valuable content you can go to sites like stuff to tweet, pop urls, ezine articles. Do not discount your own content. Share your valuable articles, blog posts, and make sure that you are not always just sharing your content. You have to syndicate content from others as much as possible and the law of reciprocity will definitely start working.
It is great to tweet quotes. Also remember to share some of your personal experiences, let your community know that you are a real person.
You can tweet links that serves you 10-20% of the time. Links to free reports works best.
Ask questions-
This will open up the channel for communication. You can ask a question at the end of a tweet. For example – “More and more corporates start using social media for business, what are your thoughts?”
You can tweet a question “what have you accomplished this week?” , “what are your goals for this week?”
Build relationships –
The best way to build relationships is by using the direct message function. Here again ask questions to engage them in the conversation. Never pitch them about your business. Let them open up with their concerns, worries etc. so that you can find out whether you will be able to help them.
Ask questions that will prompt them to ask about your product or MLM business opportunity. For example; “what is your goal in using twitter?”
Once you start the conversation, you can direct them to your blog, facebook profile or any other place for them to connect with you more. It is best not to send them to a lead capture page or a replicated corporate website.
When you build a quality relationship, you are opening yourself up to their network as well. So it is not just one person, because when you come across as a leader in your niche they will be happy to recommend you to their followers.
Finally, let us not forget, network marketing is a relationship business. You can use twitter effectively to build relationships and then convert them to quality leads, prospects, customers and business partners.
